From a recent interview with Leadership Weekend, the Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun likened the state to New Jersey in the US. As of today, many companies, industries, manufacturers are patronizing the Ogun State for years. And the primary reason is, one, Lagos State houses the busiest airport and the busiest sea ports. These companies are able to bring their raw materials in from Lagos to Ogun State, process it, distribute back to Lagos or other parts of the country.

So, beyond the convenience of being close to the busiest sea port and the financial capital, industries have found their home here because they have access to power through natural gas.

The Multimodal Transportation Masterplan

As of today, some people might still wonder if truly an airport is seated in Ogun State. Well, you should keep abreast now that the state has built a world class Airport in Ikenne Local Government between Ilishan and Iperu.

This new development is captured in the state’s transportation masterplan being a key enabler for various industries to thrive. This masterplan defined the connection among roads, rail and air transportation. The implementation has begun for four years and few months down the road.

Developments like this make it believable that this state is one of the leading states in Nigeria and, undoubtedly has the potential to reach the peak in no time.
